FÊTE DE LA MUSIQUE

We are delighted to bring back Fête de la Musique to French Living, a joyful French tradition celebrating music, summer and community !

Created in 1982 by French Minister of Culture Jack Lang, this nationwide festival invites everyone, professionals and amateurs alike, to take to the streets and make music freely. Its philosophy is simple: music everywhere, for everyone. No barriers, no tickets, just a shared moment of spontaneity and connection.

This is exactly the spirit we wanted to recreate here in Nottingham. After a wonderful first edition last year, we’re proud to make it part of our own story, bringing a little piece of France to French Living.

On the day, expect something quite different from our usual service. The restaurant transforms into a lively, informal space filled with continuous live music. There will be no table seating, no food served, just the bars open on both floors for drinks.

Entry is free. Doors open from 3pm, with live music from 4pm until late. You are welcome to come and go as you please, stay for one drink or the whole evening.

This year’s programme will feature a vibrant mix of styles, from gypsy jazz and French songs to folk guitar and experimental sounds, creating a warm and festive atmosphere throughout the day.

And if you feel inspired, you’re part of it too. Bring your instrument or your voice, our open mic upstairs is open to anyone who would like to play or sing. Just ask us.

Join us on 21st June and experience Fête de la Musique the French way: simple, spontaneous and full of life.
